Code of conduct

Code of Conduct for the Intercrime Defense Alliance The Intercrime Defense Alliance (the “Alliance”) unites elite international criminal defense attorneys to provide coordinated, high-caliber representation in cross-border cases. This Code of Conduct establishes the ethical framework governing member interactions, client representation, and collaborative efforts. It ensures that all activities uphold the rule of law, protect client rights, and foster mutual trust among members. Members agree to abide by this Code, their national bar rules, and applicable international standards:

1. Adherence to National Legislation: Members shall at all times comply with the professional regulations, ethical codes, and laws of their home jurisdiction and any relevant host jurisdictions, without exception or violation.

2. Mutual Reminders of Obligations: In collaborative discussions or case consultations, members shall proactively remind one another of applicable national rules to prevent inadvertent breaches.

3. Restricted Information Sharing:  No confidential or case-related information shall be shared within the Alliance unless explicitly permitted by the client and under the national laws of all involved members’ jurisdictions.

4. Independence in Representation: Members must maintain professional independence, avoiding any actions that could compromise their judgment or imply bias toward external pressures, including those from Alliance activities.

5. Client Loyalty and Primacy: All decisions and collaborations must prioritize the will and best interests of the client, with full disclosure to the client of any Alliance involvement.

6. Confidentiality and Professional Secrecy: Members shall preserve the confidentiality of client affairs indefinitely, sharing details only with necessary team members and in compliance with legal exceptions.

7. Avoidance of Conflicts of Interest: Members must disclose potential conflicts arising from Alliance collaborations and recuse themselves if representation could impair loyalty to a client.

8. Fairness and Courtesy to Colleagues: Interactions with fellow members and opposing counsel shall be conducted with honesty, respect, and good faith, promoting efficient and ethical practice.

9. Non-Discrimination and Integrity: Members shall refrain from discriminatory conduct based on race, gender, nationality, or other protected characteristics, upholding the highest standards of honesty and fairness. 10. Reporting and Continuous Compliance: Members shall report known violations of this Code or national rules to the Alliance coordinator and commit to ongoing education on cross-border ethical issues.
